The Ama Dablam Lodge, our friends, Tashie and Lakpa’s home and business burned to the ground in November 2017. They lost everything. All of their belongings, money, and ability to have a business and make a living for them and their family.
Immediately, the community came to help the night of the fire and many stayed for a month to help with clearing the charred remains of the lodge and to help with the rebuild.
All the materials for the rebuild needed to be carried up the mountain to their home, one person at a time on their back. It took many porters to carry the materials, money to pay for the materials, and the workers who helped build the new lodge.
Nepal: Here to Help’s, friends helped to raise money for the lodge to be rebuilt. By October of 2018, the lodge was open for business, not quite completed but able to have guests come and stay. It was an amazing accomplishment of the Sherpa’s and their work ethic. Every day, they worked from dawn to dusk to complete the lodge for the fall trekking, climbing season. They did it!
All of you who helped make this possible for the Sherpa’s to open their lodge and to again earn a living. Thank you, Thank you!
