April 25, 2015. a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, northwest of the capital city, Kathmandu It was the strongest quake to strike Nepal in more than 80 years. The earthquake triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest killing 21, making Apri 25 the deadliest day on the mountain in history.
A second 7.3 magnitude quake occurred just 17 days later on May 12, causing further damage and suffering for those who had survived the initial disaster. The Sherpas in Khumjung suffered greatly. Many thought when the second earthquake struck they would not survive. Their village was reduced to a rubble of stones where their homes were. Hundreds of thousands of people
